US October 2009 car sales totaled 24,475 units, up 22.5 percent on the September figure of 19,977 units. The October 2009 figure is also up 11.36 percent on the figure of 21,978 units for October 2008. As gas prices remain high and with more hybrid models on the horizon, it would appear that 2010 is likely to be a significant year for hybrids.  US year to date (YTD) hybrid car sales at the end of October 2009 were 245,098 units compared to the figure of 277,770 units for the same period in 2008.
